 UPDATED INFORMATION FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Dear Tieton Intermediate School students and parents,


The 2020-21 school year has provided us with another opportunity to expand our teaching and learning boundaries. Due to the current impact of COVID-19 in Yakima County and throughout our state, Highland will be transitioning to a mix of in-person and online learning on October 26. The schedule for Tieton Intermediate School will have half our students coming in the morning from 9:00-11:15 and half of our students coming in the afternoon from 1:20-3:35, Monday through Thursday. We will be scheduling small groups instruction via Zoom meetings in November based on student availability and need throughout the rest of the day starting .   Small groups shall include, but not limited to: SPED Support, EL Interventions, TITLE Math Support, Focused Interventions, Learning Extensions.  On Fridays, students will have science, social studies, and a personal growth lesson from 9am-10:35am.  Please see the schedule below.

All students will have at least one hour of independent work time for math and for English.  Students are also required to read for at least 20 minutes independently each school day.


Safety Procedures for in-person learning at TIS

The safety procedures are listed here for parents can see the efforts we are making here at TIS to not just follow the Yakima County Health District guidelines but to do all we can to eliminate student and staff COVID contact here at school:

1. All students and staff will wear masks that cover their mouth and nose while here at school.

2. During pick and drop off at the school or at the bus stops, all students will have their temperature checked and will have a completed self-check form filled out and signed by parents attesting to having the student having no COVID symptoms or contact with anyone who has tested positive . 

3. All parents will stay in their vehicles during drop off and pick up here at school.


4. All will transition into and out of school through classroom doors as available.

5. Students will be placed 6 feet apart in classrooms and will stay in their desks  except to use the restroom and for brain breaks.

6. During all transitions to and from class, students and staff will maintain six foot social distancing.

7.  All students will use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting each classroom.

8. All bathroom stalls will be identified for usage and sanitized every 15-20 minutes.

9.  All classrooms, hallways, and entry ways will be sanitized in between each group of students.  On Fridays, our entire building will receive a deep cleaning and sanitizing by our custodians.

      • This could be adjusted at a later date

     

  • Parent info
    • DO NOT need their student with them
    • 1st time we will check them in and give them student’s ID
      • After the 1st time they will need to bring the IDs with them every time to pick up food
      • Can only pick up for one (1) family
        • Meaning if mom comes for her students, she cannot pick up for sister-in-law also.  Sister– in–law must be in the car
    • Student’s food eligibility applies
      • Example - If you are a full pay student you will be billed for meals
        • Please remember to fill out an application by September 30.
        • Students eligibility carries over from last year for the first 30 days
